INTERPHEX takes international look at pharma issues, technology

By Staff -- Plant Engineering, 3/1/2006

INTERPHEX2006, the world's largest pharmaceutical conference and exhibition, will add show pavilions to address the increasing globalization of the biopharmaceutical industry and the expanding roles of contamination control and RFID. The show opens March 21 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York.

"Our aim is to help drug companies stay one step ahead of the game by showcasing tomorrow's solutions today," said RJ Palermo, Event Director at Reed Exhibitions. "These three new pavilions will make the attendee and exhibitor experience more targeted and productive."

The new pavilions are supported by corresponding educational opportunities and represent a portion of the products and services that will be on exhibit within each focus area throughout the show floor.

With booming pharmaceutical markets in Asia and a growing number of major pharmaceutical players throughout Europe, INTERPHEX's new International Pavilion creates a bridge to the industry's best foreign resources and expertise. As the two fastest growing geographic markets in the pharmaceutical industry, a full spectrum of technologies and services from China and India will be spotlighted alongside those from suppliers elsewhere around the world. There will also be a strong South Korean presence at the show, reflecting the emergence of this Asian nation as a formidable player in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Contamination control is a growing concern in today's drug manufacturing environments due to the increased need for aseptic processes and the use of high potency or biologically toxic compounds found in many new vaccines and cancer therapeutics. INTERPHEX's new Contamination Control Pavilion brings this pervasive aspect of biopharmaceutical production into focus by showcasing a full range of cleanrooms, controlled environments, isolators and cleaning and monitoring equipment.

RFID is poised to save the pharmaceutical industry billions of dollars. To help drug companies get a jump on this cost-saving technology, INTERPHEX2006 will feature a new RFID Pavilion where the latest technologies to prevent counterfeiting and manage the supply chain will be showcased.

Approximately 950 leading global companies serving the pharmaceutical and biotechnical industries will showcase the latest lines of equipment, technologies and services in the areas of PharmaManufacturing, PharmaSourcing & Services, PharmaIT and PharmaFacilities.
