Siemens Energy and Automation acquires Acuity CiMatrix

Siemens Energy and Automation has acquired RVSI Acuity CiMatrix, a division of Robotic Visions Systems, Inc. headquartered in Nashua, NH. Siemens Automation and Drives is a leader in factory automation and has made a commitment to strengthen its position in factory automation sensors. RVSI Acuity CiMatrix is a leader in machine vision and is expected to enhance Siemens' position in this key market segment. Siemens will likely invest in the Nashua location which will become the global center of competence for machine vision sensors. RSVI Acuity CiMatrix employs approximately 100 people who will be integrated into the Siemens business structure. "The purchase of RVSI Acuity CiMatrix's assets will allow Siemens to expand its factory automaton vision sensor portfolio," said Aubert Martin, president and CEO, Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. "Vision sensors for identification and inspection are growing within the factory automation industry. RVSI Acuity CiMatrix brings a depth of expertise in data matrix and vision product design along with a host of application development experience. A combined portfolio of Siemens and RVSI Acuity CiMatrix products, services, and solutions represents a unique and complementary offering to our customers."
