Power quality Webcast airs on Nov. 15

As if electrical costs weren't enough of a problem for plant engineers, the quality of power — whether generated onsite, purchased from the utility or both — is a serious issue for many manufacturers. What can plant engineers and managers do to ensure the quality of power in their plants? What are the sources of power quality problems? How can plant engineers recognize these problems? What do plant engineers and managers need to know when confronting these issues?
On Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. CST, PLANT ENGINEERING senior editor Jack Smith will moderate a panel of power quality experts through a discussion of the answers to these questions and more, as well as the solutions available for plant engineers who are faced with power quality issues in their plants.
Among the topics will be how to recognize and minimize harmonics. Other areas of discussion include tracking and eliminating transients and surges, preventing voltage sags and swells and developing power quality improvement strategies.
