Grunau to install HVAC for GE office

Staff -- Plant Engineering, 4/1/2005

Grunau Company has been hired to design and install the HVAC system for the new $85 million GE Healthcare division headquarters in Wauwatosa, WI.

A unique aspect of the project is that the 475,000 square foot facility has been divided into seven smaller sections. While it allows trades to work on one section at a time, it also requires closer coordination of each segment of the building.

"On most projects, we are able to work on the entire floor," said Jeff Kuhnke, project manager. "We are working closely with the general contractor and other trades to keep the tight construction sequence on schedule."

The new building will consolidate approximately 1,400 GE Healthcare employees from Menomonee Falls, Milwaukee and West Milwaukee. When completed at the end of the year, it will be the third-largest office building in the Milwaukee area.
