Maintenance and regulation

Maintenance Management and Regulatory Compliance Strategies by Terry Wireman is an unusual, but important, book. Unlike any other resource in the field, this text is designed to demonstrate how a company's maintenance management function can contribute to its compliance with regulations.

The book focuses on four compliance areas — OSHA, EPA, FDA, and ISO-9000 — and provides a cross-section of the regulations for each program than maintenance may impact, including some little-known regulations that many companies may be surprised to find themselves violating.

Wireman offers numerous examples to highlight the complexity of the standards and the integration that must occur between the standards and maintenance to ensure compliance.

Maintenance Management and Regulatory Compliance Strategies by Terry Wireman. Industrial Press Inc., 200 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10016; 212-889-6330; industrialpress.com . Hardbound, 332 pp, $39.95.
