Life cycle maintenance requirements

Staff -- Plant Engineering, 1/1/2003

Siemens Energy & Automation announced a reorganized and refocused national industrial services organization called Siemens Industrial Services. The new name replaces the former Siemens Westinghouse Technical Services and signifies a comprehensive service organization that will provide power distribution and maintenance technology, as well as automation and drives services.

Mike McCarthy, Siemens Industrial Services vice president, said that after entering the market four years ago with the acquisition of the Westinghouse Technical Services Division, Siemens is prepared to launch a service organization that reflects the company's global capabilities.

"Over the last four years we have added to the Westinghouse base the necessary skill sets and service lines to complete our portfolio, and now we're ready to go to market as Siemens Industrial Services," he said.

Two factors drive the broadened service strategy, according to McCarthy. Siemens now provides service support for automation and drives products, and it has embraced the Siemens global strategy of providing life cycle maintenance and support to industrial customers, including local on-call, logistics, maintenance technology, and engineering services.
