There is one small reservation that I have about your first tip "Gaskets made easy" in the October 2002 issue. Although the photocopiers have gotten much better in recent years, you still can not rely on them to make exact copies. Just as we do not measure dimensions off of prints that have been photocopied, I would have some reservations about cutting a gasket based on a photocopy of the face of the equipment. It just depends on what kind of precision you need for the job. For many jobs, a photocopy would be just fine, but for a very precise one, it may be off. I enjoy reading the whole magazine, especially the tips and tricks. — Alice Claus

The October 2002 issue contains a question in the Human Side of Engineering concerning job-related hearing loss. The subject, as presented, could be misleading. Readers should refer to 0SHA 29 CFR 1910.95 for the federally mandated requirements of a Hearing Conservation Program that would render this section of the column moot. — Gaylord H. Magoon
