Top 10 list

Conexpo-Con-Agg '99, the construction, aggregates, and ready-mixed concrete industry trade show, has announced its list of the "Top 10 Construction Achievements of the 20th Century." An international panel of industry leaders nominated, and later voted, on a list of buildings and structures, roads and highways, bridges, tunnels, dams and waterways, commercial centers, and transportation facilities to create the list.

The achievements named to the list (in no particular order) are:

1. Aswan High Dam (Egypt)

2. Chek Lap Kon Airport (Hong Kong)

3. Chunnel (United Kingdom/France)

4. Dwight D. Eisenhower System of Interstate and Defense Highways (United States)

5. Empire State

Building

(United States)

6. Golden Gate Bridge (United States)

7. Hoover/Boulder Dam (United States)

8. Panama Canal (Panama)

9. Sydney Opera House (Australia)

10. World Trade Center (United States).

The "Top 10 Construction Achievments" program was established to further advance the construction industry, along with attracting future generations to consider a career in the construction business.
