The Kuomintang Government of President Ma Ying-jeou plans to make Taiwan’s manufacturing sector available to Chinese investment. Since taking office in May, Ying-jeou has modified or eliminated 32 policies, which restrict trade, investment and contact with China. The most important will open Taiwan's "productive sectors" to investment by Chinese companies, and relax restrictions on Taiwanese companies investing in China, so they can shift most of their manufacturing jobs to the mainland.
